Job summary

JLR in Coventry is seeking a Rotating Machines Tester/Fitter Technician to prepare, instrument and test propulsion systems, generating high-quality data to support engineering decisions across programmes.

You will operate propulsion test facilities, conduct inspections and fault diagnosis, and contribute to data analysis while upholding safety and quality in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Automotive or Motor Vehicle Engineering.
  • Demonstrating practical experience working with engines, powertrain systems or mechanical test equipment in an engineering environment.
  • Applying strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills while working to technical procedures and specifications.
  • Using instrumentation, measurement equipment or data acquisition systems to support testing activities.
  • Working effectively within a safety-critical environment whilst maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, instrumenting and installing units under test to meet programme requirements.
  • Operating propulsion test facilities and supporting the delivery of accurate and repeatable test data.
  • Conducting inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification activities on propulsion systems and associated equipment.
  • Supporting data analysis, issue investigation and root cause activities to improve product and test quality.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, housekeeping and continuous improvement within the test environment.

As a Rotating Machines Tester/Fitter Technician here at JLR, you'll play a key role in preparing, instrumenting and testing propulsion systems, generating the high-quality data that supports engineering decisions across current and future programmes. You'll work at the forefront of propulsion development, supporting a wide range of test activities including durability, performance, emissions, certification and research programmes. What You’ll Need
