Job summary

Jaguar Land Rover in Coventry is seeking a Rotating Machines Tester/Fitter Technician. You will prep, instrument and test propulsion systems, generating high-quality data to support engineering decisions across current and future programmes.

As a qualified skilled professional, you will work on durability, performance, emissions and certification tests, applying strong fault-finding, using instrumentation and data acquisition equipment, and upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Automotive or Motor Vehicle Engineering.
• Practical experience with engines, powertrain systems or mechanical test equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills following technical procedures.
• Experience using instrumentation, measurement equipment or data acquisition systems.
• Ability to work in a safety-critical environment with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, instrumenting and installing units under test to meet programme requirements.
• Operating propulsion test facilities and delivering accurate, repeatable data.
• Conducting inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification on propulsion systems and equipment.
• Supporting data analysis, issue investigation and root cause activities to improve quality.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping in the test environment.

As a Rotating Machines Tester/Fitter Technician here at JLR, you'll play a key role in preparing, instrumenting and testing propulsion systems, generating the high-quality data that supports engineering decisions across current and future programmes. You'll work at the forefront of propulsion development, supporting a wide range of test activities including durability, performance, emissions, certification and research programmes. What to expect

What you'll need

• Demonstrating practical experience working with engines, powertrain systems or mechanical test equipment in an engineering environment
• Applying strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills while working to technical procedures and specifications
• Using instrumentation, measurement equipment or data acquisition systems to support testing activities
• Working effectively within a safety-critical environment whilst maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail
