Job summary

CJ Associates Geotechnical Ltd, part of the RSK Group, is seeking an experienced Lead rotary driller in Avonmouth, Bristol, UK. You will operate multi-purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs across diverse sites and sectors, with regular away work and accommodation provided.

The role focuses on sampling, coring, open holing and in-situ testing, plus installing monitoring equipment and leading Drilling Support Operatives. Willingness to travel within the UK and maintain equipment is essential.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of drilling rigs and capabilities.
• Minimum of two years lead rotary drilling experience.
• Excellent knowledge of UK ground investigation industry standards and practices.
• Willing to work across the UK and stay away overnight as needed.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Clean driving licence; towing preferred.

Responsibilities

• High quality installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment.

Role

Lead rotary driller – responsible for operating multi‑purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs across a variety of sites and sectors. The role requires working away regularly, with accommodation provided by the company and a daily subsistence allowance.

Responsibilities

• Operation of multi-purpose geotechnical rotary drilling rigs
• Undertake geotechnical sampling, coring, open holing and in‑situ testing to recognised industry standards
• High quality installation of geotechnical and geo-environmental monitoring equipment
• Responsible for onsite drilling operations and management of Drilling Support Operatives
• Maintain company drilling rig, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
• Produce quality daily driller log sheets
• Follow company operational and health and safety procedures

Requirements

• In-depth working knowledge of drilling rigs and their capabilities
• Minimum of two years lead rotary drilling experience
• Excellent knowledge of the UK ground investigation industry, standards and working practices
• A good working knowledge of health and safety practices
• Willing to work throughout the UK and stay away overnight as needed
• Excellent communication skills
• Clean driving licence, ideally with entitlement for towing
