Job summary

Soil Engineering Geoservices Limited is seeking a skilled Driller to operate rotary drilling rigs across UK sites, forming boreholes and supporting site teams on challenging ground investigations.

You will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling with a valid UK driving licence (B+E). You’ll work safely under RAMS, plan jobs, and supervise the Assistant Driller while maintaining accuracy in logs, sampling, and testing.

Qualifications

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Land Drilling.
  • Be able to work to a defined health and safety management system.
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence with B+E Category.

Responsibilities

  • Operate rotary drilling rigs and associated equipment to form boreholes.
  • Supervise the Assistant Driller and maintain rig and work area.
  • Set up, maintain and follow RAMS; minimise environmental impact.
  • Support site teams with labouring tasks and equipment movement.
  • Record Drilling Logs and oversee sampling and testing at depths.

The Role

We are looking for candidates that will operate Rotary drilling rigs and associated equipment to form boreholes within the ground, and to assist and support activities on site or with the depot.

What You'll Be Doing

Working away Monday to Friday, on sites across the UK, you will be part of the operational site team delivering works for our Clients.

Responsible for safely operating the drilling rig and associated activities, you will drill boreholes, install instrumentation, and oversee sampling and testing at different depths, as well as maintaining Drilling Logs for submission. You will supervise, assist and direct the Assistant Driller, whilst maintaining full responsibility for the rig and work area.

You'll make sure the rig is properly set up, maintained and RAMS are followed to ensure efficient drilling and minimise environmental impact.

You will also support site teams and undertake labouring tasks, such as establish/remove temporary fencing, moving equipment around site, excavation of hand dug pits, laying / lifting grouting line etc.

What We're Looking For

You will need to hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Land Drilling, and be able to work to a defined health and safety management system, with an understanding of what is required from yourself and other colleagues.

You will need to hold a Full UK Driving Licence with B+E Category.

You should be prepared for a variety of workloads from general routine jobs, to task that carry out responsibility. You should have good planning and organisation skills, and need to have excellent problem solving skills, use your own initiative, have great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a professional approach and good customer-service focus.
