Job Description:

We are looking for a Root Cause Business Insight Lead to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.

The role's purpose is to drive performance and directly impact pollution reduction, a top priority for Thames Water.

Environmental performance is monitored by regulators through measures like compliance with permits and pollution incident severity, informing the Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA).

Your data insights will support the environmental delivery team in improving workstreams, defining benefits, and reporting, which are crucial for business decisions.

This is a 36-hour/week role, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid work model requiring travel to Thames Water sites, for which a car allowance is provided.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze root causes of pollution incidents, identifying patterns and underlying issues using operational data.
  • Extract insights to recommend operational improvements and pollution reduction strategies.
  • Enhance team efficiency through automation of performance reporting and KPI management.
  • Conduct failure analysis and evaluate solution effectiveness via benefit realization reporting.
  • Collaborate internally and with industry partners to achieve pollution reduction.
  • Liaise with regulators, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Support Thames Water's data-led approach to pollution reduction as part of the Environmental Performance team.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Passion for environmental performance improvement.
  • Experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Proven root cause analysis (RCA) skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, including report writing.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation/regulations (e.g., CICS & 16_02).
  • Understanding of waste network and treatment operations.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Project management experience or a track record of delivering projects.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, data visualization, and databases (SQL, Access).
  • Full UK driving license required.
  • Degree or higher in environmental or science disciplines preferred.
