Job Title: Root Cause Business Insight Lead

We are seeking a dedicated Root Cause Business Insight Lead to join Thames Water on a permanent basis.

Role Purpose: To drive performance improvements and directly contribute to pollution reduction, a key priority for Thames Water.

Our environmental performance is assessed by regulators through measures such as compliance with permits and pollution incident severity, which inform our Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA).

Your data insights will support the environmental delivery team in implementing improvement workstreams, defining benefits, and reporting. Accurate reporting is crucial for informed decision-making.

Work Schedule: 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday. This is a hybrid role requiring travel to various Thames Water sites, with a car allowance provided.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyse root causes of pollution incidents, identifying patterns and underlying issues using operational data.
2. Extract insights to recommend operational improvements and pollution reduction strategies.
3. Enhance team efficiency by automating reporting, maintaining KPIs, and investigating deviations.
4. Conduct failure analyses and evaluate the effectiveness of solutions through benefit realization reporting.
5. Collaborate internally and with industry partners to achieve pollution reduction goals.
6. Coordinate with regulators, providing accurate and timely information.
7. Support Thames Water’s data-led approach to reducing pollution incidents as part of the Environmental Performance team.

Candidate Requirements:

• Passion for improving environmental performance.
• Experience in a similar role or industry.
• Proven ability in root cause analysis (RCA).
• Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, including report writing.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation/regulations such as CICS & 16_02.
• Understanding of waste network and treatment operations.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
• Experience in project management or delivering business projects.
• Proficiency in Power BI, data visualization, and database management (SQL, Access).
• Full UK driving license is essential.
• Degree or higher in environmental or science disciplines preferred.

• Salary between £55,000 and £65,000 depending on experience.
