Job summary

Willing Care Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated Toddler Room Leader in Lewisham to take ownership of the Toddler Room and guide a team of practitioners in delivering high‑quality, development‑focused care.

You’ll plan engaging experiences around children’s interests, support language and independence, and collaborate with families to build a nurturing, safe learning environment within an expanding nursery.

Qualifications

• A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
• Strong experience in Early Years settings with toddler focus is desirable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Confident in safeguarding and child development knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Toddler Room
• Lead and support practitioners to provide consistently high-quality care
• Create an energetic, nurturing and engaging environment
• Plan experiences around children's interests and developmental stages
• Support toddlers as they develop language, confidence and independence
• Bring new ideas to the room as the nursery continues to grow
• Oversee observations, assessments and children's development records
• Maintain high standards across safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures
• Build strong relationships with parents and families
• Support the development of your team and encourage positive Early Years practice

Job description

£32,500 per year | 40 Hours per Week Across 5 Days

Toddlers bring plenty of personality, curiosity and energy to the nursery day – so this room needs a leader who can bring that same energy and turn it into exciting opportunities to learn and develop.

This is an exciting time to join a growing nursery, with the opportunity to take ownership of the Toddler Room and really put your stamp on how it develops. You’ll have the freedom to bring ideas to the room, support your team and create an environment that encourages toddlers to explore, communicate and become increasingly independent.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with previous Room Leader or senior Early Years experience, although a strong Level 3 Practitioner who is ready to step into their first leadership position will also be considered.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and verification of the right to work in the UK, in line with safeguarding responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

• A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
• Strong experience working within an Early Years setting
• A genuine passion for working with toddlers
• Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader or senior practitioner experience would be ideal
• Strong Level 3 Practitioners who are ready to step up into leadership will also be considered
• Good knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
• An energetic, enthusiastic and hands‑on approach
• Confidence supporting and motivating other practitioners
• Plenty of ideas for creating engaging, age-appropriate experiences
• Strong communication and organisational skills
