Job summary

Grandir UK is seeking a Room Leader for Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Exeter, Sowton. You will lead the room team, plan and deliver age-appropriate activities, and ensure high-quality care aligned with the EYFS.

You will observe progress, maintain records, and foster strong relationships with families while supporting daily routines and safeguarding practices. A full Level 3 EY qualification is required, with additional benefits and progression opportunities offered.

Qualifications

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and support a room team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the room team, creating a positive environment for children, families and colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS.
  • Act as a key person to support each child's needs, interests and development.
  • Observe, assess and track children's progress, maintaining learning records.
  • Ensure the room is safe, well-organised and well-resourced.
  • Build relationships with parents and carers, sharing updates on development.
  • Support routines, including meals, sleep, toileting and personal care.
  • Promote inclusion and adapt activities for additional needs.
  • Maintain safeguarding, health and safety standards.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to practitioners and students.
  • Organise staff deployment and room cover.

Salary - Up to £30.160 per annum /£14.50 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications - with regular pay reviews)

Our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Exeter, Sowton is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our team. You will play a key role in caring for, supporting, and inspiring our children, encouraging curiosity, and helping them thrive every day.

You’ll also enjoy delivering engaging activities such as Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake, and Sow and Grow, alongside regular community visits that help children build confidence and meaningful connections.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead and support the room team, creating a positive and welcoming environment for children, families and colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS.
  • Act as a key person and ensure every child's individual needs, interests and development are supported.
  • Observe, assess and track children's progress, maintaining accurate learning and development records.
  • Ensure the room is safe, stimulating, well organised and appropriately resourced.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, sharing regular updates about their child's development.
  • Support children's routines, including mealtimes, sleep, toileting and personal care.
  • Promote inclusion and adapt activities to support children with additional needs.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and feedback to practitioners, apprentices and students.
  • Organise staff deployment and daily routines to maintain appropriate ratios and effective room cover.
What We're Looking For
  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
  • Previous experience working within an Early Years setting.
  • A sound understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
  • The confidence to lead, motivate and support a room team.
  • A caring, positive and enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and thrive.
