Job summary

Clarkson Owens Recruitment is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead a roofing/refurbishment project in Cumnock. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage subcontractors and trades, and ensure delivery to programme, safety standards and quality requirements.

The role suits a hands-on manager with roofing/external refurbishment experience, strong organisation and communication skills, and a valid UK driving licence. SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS are preferred; first aid is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a site manager in construction.
• Experience in roofing, external refurbishment or building envelope projects is highly advantageous.
• Strong ability to manage subcontractors and multiple trades.
• Good knowledge of construction sequencing, site logistics and quality control.
• Strong understanding of health & safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the site.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, specialist trades and suppliers.
• Monitor works against the construction programme and maintain progress.
• Ensure roofing and refurbishment works comply with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure site procedures are followed.
• Carry out inductions, toolbox talks and site briefings as required.
• Coordinate materials, deliveries, access and site logistics.
• Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress information.
• Liaise with the Project/Contracts Manager, client, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Identify potential delays, defects or construction issues and address promptly.
• Manage quality control, snagging, remedial works and project close-out.
• Ensure the site remains organised, professional and compliant throughout the project.
