Job summary

Clarkson Owens Recruitment is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead a roofing/refurbishment project in Lochgilphead. You will be responsible for day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and trades, and ensuring safety, quality and programme adherence on a 5 Weeks+ contract.

The role requires construction site management experience, a strong grasp of drawings/specs, and valid UK driving licence, with SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in construction.
  • Experience in roofing or external refurbishment is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to manage subcontractors and trades.
  • Good knowledge of construction sequencing and site logistics.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs.
  • Valid UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day site operations safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, trades and suppliers.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme.
  • Ensure works meet drawings, specs and quality standards.
  • Maintain health & safety and enforce procedures.
  • Conduct inductions, toolbox talks and site briefings.
  • Coordinate materials, deliveries, access and logistics.
  • Maintain site records, diaries and progress information.
  • Liaise with Project/Contracts Manager and stakeholders.
  • Identify delays or defects and address promptly.
  • Manage quality control, snagging and project close-out.
  • Keep site professional and compliant throughout.

SITE MANAGER - ROOFING / REFURBISHMENT

Location: Lochgilphead

Duration: 5 Weeks+

An established specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of a roofing/refurbishment project in Lochgilphead.

The successful candidate will manage site operations, subcontractors and trades, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and to a high standard of quality. This role would suit a hands‑on Site Manager with experience in roofing, external refurbishment or related construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the site.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, specialist trades and suppliers.
  • Monitor works against the agreed construction programme and maintain project progress.
  • Ensure roofing and associated refurbishment works comply with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure site procedures are followed.
  • Carry out inductions, toolbox talks and site briefings as required.
  • Coordinate materials, deliveries, access and site logistics.
  • Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress information.
  • Liaise professionally with the Project/Contracts Manager, client, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Identify potential delays, defects or construction issues and ensure these are addressed promptly.
  • Manage quality control, snagging, remedial works and project close‑out.
  • Ensure the site remains organised, professional and compliant throughout the project.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within construction.
  • Experience in roofing, external refurbishment, building envelope or similar projects is highly advantageous.
  • Strong ability to manage subcontractors and multiple trades.
  • Good knowledge of construction sequencing, site logistics and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of current health & safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS and CSCS.
  • First Aid certification is advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence.
