Job summary

SettleParadigm is seeking a skilled Roofing Operative to join our Repairs team, maintaining safety, comfort, and durability across our property portfolio. You will diagnose issues, carry out repairs on flat and pitched roofs, and work with various materials to deliver high-quality results.

You will operate within our Direct Labour Operations, following building regulations and safety standards while providing excellent customer service and keeping accurate records of work performed.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds qualification, NVQ, or equivalent roofing qualification.
• Proven experience in roofing maintenance and repairs (flat and/or pitched roofs).
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction practices, and health & safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day roofing repairs and maintenance across a range of properties.
• Diagnose roofing issues and complete repairs to a high standard.
• Work with a variety of roofing materials, including wood, asphalt, and insulation systems.
• Repair or replace shingles, tiles, felt, and other roofing components.
• Ensure all work complies with building regulations, health & safety standards, and organisational policies.
• Construct or repair weather-resistant roofing systems.
• Undertake minor carpentry tasks where required to support roofing repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed using digital systems.
• Provide excellent customer service, acting as a professional ambassador for SettleParadigm.

About The Role

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Roofing Operative to join our expanding Repairs team within our Direct Labour Operations (DLO) team. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and durability of our homes by carrying out day‑to‑day roofing repairs and maintenance across our property portfolio.

Working independently, you’ll diagnose issues, complete repairs, and ensure all work meets regulatory and safety standards. You’ll work across both flat and pitched roofs, using a variety of materials and tools, and your expertise will help us deliver high‑quality, reliable services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

Must Haves

• City & Guilds qualification, NVQ, or equivalent experience in roofing trades
• Proven experience in roofing maintenance and repairs (flat and/or pitched roofs)
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction practices, and health & safety standards
• Ability to work at heights and undertake physically demanding tasks
• Proficiency with roofing tools and materials
• Full valid manual UK driving licence (preferably clean)
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Clear communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
• Must be reliable

Nice to haves

• Minor carpentry skills to support roofing repairs
• Experience mentoring or supporting other team members
• Experience working within social housing or local authority environments

Working Hours & Additional Pay

• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
• Potential to sign up to an out-of-hours rota.
