Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited in Clitheroe is seeking a Roofer who is keen to progress into a SHEQ Manager role. The position combines hands-on roofing work with strategic safety leadership across projects nationwide, underpinned by training and development.

You will lead SHEQ strategy, ensure CDM compliance, and work with clients, auditors, and site teams. Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, with a company vehicle or car allowance, pension and generous annual leave.

Qualifications

• Experience as Roofer or in a site supervisor/foreman role with roofing/cladding/facades experience.
• Progression into a SHEQ Manager role is intended and supported by training.
• Familiarity with health, safety and quality standards in construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop SHEQ strategy, policies and procedures across the business.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, HSE requirements, British Standards, Building Regulations, PAS 9980 and BS 8414.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks, SHEQ briefings and coaching to site teams and subcontractors.
• Work Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm with no weekend working.

This role would suit a Roofer or a site supervisor/foreman/manager looking to progress into a SHEQ Manager role with experience in roofing, cladding, facades or construction, knowledge of health & safety legislation, and a passion for continuous improvement who is looking to progress into a management-focused position.

In this role, the successful candidate will be trained to lead SHEQ strategy across the business, carry out site inspections and audits, investigate incidents and non-conformances, support risk assessments and safe systems of work, and work closely with clients, auditors, regulators, and site teams to ensure consistently high standards.

The Role:

• SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent qualifications (Preferred/can be trained)
