Job summary

Fortus Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Roofer to perform responsive repairs and maintenance across social housing properties in South West London. You will diagnose defects on pitched and flat roofs and carry out high-standard repairs in occupied and void properties.

The role involves reactive and planned works, working at height, and using access equipment. A forklift-independent, customer-focused approach is essential, with a valid UK driving licence and roofing qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Roofer in domestic or social housing environments.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent roofing qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of working at height and asbestos awareness.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive roofing repairs and maintenance.
• Work on pitched and flat roofing systems.
• Repair tiles, slates, felt and leadwork.
• Repair fascias, soffits and guttering.
• Diagnose defects and provide appropriate repairs.
• Plan and carry out void property works.
• Work safely at height following Health & Safety procedures.
• Use PDA/tablet to record completed works.
• Leave worksites clean, safe and tidy.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Roofer to carry out responsive repairs and maintenance across social housing properties across South West London.

The role will involve a mixture of reactive repairs and planned works across occupied and void properties. The successful candidate will need to be confident working across pitched and flat roofing systems, diagnosing defects and completing repairs to a high standard.

Duties

• Carrying out responsive roofing repairs and maintenance
• Working on pitched and flat roofing systems
• Completing repairs to tiles, slates, felt and leadwork
• Carrying out repairs to fascias, soffits and guttering
• Diagnosing roofing defects and completing appropriate repairs
• Carrying out planned works on void properties
• Working safely at height and following relevant Health & Safety procedures
• Using access equipment and appropriate fall protection where required
• Working within occupied properties and maintaining a professional approach with residents
• Reporting any additional works, defects or hazards identified
• Recording completed works using a PDA/tablet
• Leaving work areas clean, safe and tidy

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Roofer
• Experience carrying out repairs and maintenance within domestic or social housing environments
• Good knowledge of pitched and flat roofing
• Competent with tiles, slates, felt, leadwork, fascias, soffits and guttering
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of working at height and asbestos awareness
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Relevant roofing qualification such as NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent experience
• Full UK driving licence
