Job summary

A leading company in recruitment seeks a Modifications/Overhaul Technician for a 6-month contract in North London. The role involves mechanical repairs and overhauls of wheelsets and bogies, requiring rolling stock experience and mechanical engineering skills. Candidates will work within a well-equipped depot, contributing to the maintenance of the Class 717 Moorgate Fleet.

Job description

Modifications/Overhaul Technician

Location: North London

Core Hours: Mon - Fri 7am - 5pm

Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour PAYE

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Description:

1. Undertake overhaul, modifications, and repair of the allocated wheelsets/bogies components with minimal supervision, adhering to the requisite processes and procedures.
2. Assist other team members with bogie and wheelset overhauls to develop technical skills.
3. The role involves working on Class 717 Moorgate Fleet.
4. Perform heavy overhaul work and rework of Shoegear & Treadbreak components.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Work as part of the Engineering team, focusing on mechanical repairs.
2. Support the completion of repairs, modifications, and overhauls within a well-equipped rolling stock depot.

Knowledge & Experience

• Must have rolling stock experience.
• Experience in mechanical engineering and fault finding.
• Ability to accurately complete records of actions and operations according to procedures.
• Care for tools, equipment, and PPE.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, including bio hazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
• Proficiency in using a computer.
• Ability to interpret technical publications and produce detailed technical reports.
