Job description

Technician - Rolling Stock

Contract Duration: 12 months

Location: North London

Pay Rate:

Umbrella - £23.49 per hour (115%) for first 4 weeks on day shifts, then increasing to £[phone number removed] %)

PAYE - £18.86 per hour (115%) for first 4 weeks on day shifts, then increasing to £[phone number removed] %)

Shift pattern: Days initially (4 weeks), then a combination of Days and Lates, Nights TBC.

Description:

• Undertake overhaul, modifications, and repair of wheelsets/bogies components with minimal supervision, following established processes and procedures.
• Assist team members with bogie and wheelset overhauls to develop technical skills.
• Identify, order, and collect spares and materials from stores. Assist with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
• This position involves work on the Thames Link Project.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Perform mechanical repairs as part of the Engineering team.
• Support the completion of repairs, modifications, and overhauls within a well-equipped rolling stock depot.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience in mechanical/electrical engineering or similar process environments.
• Basic fault-finding skills.
• Accurate record-keeping of actions and operations according to procedures.
• Careful handling of tools, equipment, and PPE.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, including biohazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
• Proficiency in computer use.
• Ability to interpret technical publications.
• Capability to produce detailed, analytical technical reports.
