Production Technician

Technician - Rolling Stock

Contract Duration: 12 months

Location: North London

Pay Rate:

Umbrella - £24.56 per hour for the first 4 weeks (15% shift), increasing to £27.77 per hour after 4 weeks (30% shift), then finally increasing to £29.27 (30% shift) per hour after 12 weeks in line with AWR.

PAYE - £19.72 per hour for the first 4 weeks (15% shift), increasing to £22.30 after 4 weeks (30% shift).

Shift pattern: Days initially (4 weeks) then a combination of Days and Lates, Nights TBC.

Description:

• Undertake overhaul, modifications, and repair of wheelsets/bogies components with minimal supervision, following the requisite processes and procedures.
• Assist team members with bogie and wheelset overhauls to develop technical skills.
• Identify, order, and collect spares and materials from stores. Assist with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
• This position involves work on the Thames Link Project.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Perform mechanical repairs as part of the Engineering team.
• Support the completion of repairs, modifications, and overhauls within a well-equipped rolling stock depot.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience in mechanical/electrical engineering or process environments.
• Basic fault-finding experience.
• Ability to accurately complete records of actions and operations following procedures.
• Care for tools, equipment, and PPE.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, including biohazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
• Proficiency in computer use.
• Ability to interpret technical publications and produce detailed technical reports.
