Lancaster Instruments Ltd. designs and builds precision machines and robotics. This on-site, full-time role sits in a small workshop where you’ll build, test and fine‑tune robotic systems alongside engineers. You’ll learn quickly, take care with your work and contribute to a safe, organized workspace.
You’ll assemble machines from prototypes to finished systems, modify parts, and gain CNC exposure. Relocation isn’t offered; commuting distance to Lancaster is essential.
Lancaster Instruments designs and builds precision machines and robotics. Our work includes laboratory automation for IVF clinics, test equipment for the nuclear industry and one-off machines for individual clients. We're a small team with our own workshop and in-house CNC machining, which means we get from CAD to working hardware quickly.
We're looking for a hands-on technician to help run our workshop and build the machines our engineers design.
You'll work alongside our engineers every day and be the person who helps keep the workshop running. No two builds are the same, and drawings and instructions won't always be complete. We need someone who works things out, asks when they're unsure and gets on with it.
You don't need a degree or a particular qualification. We care about evidence that you're good at building things and quick to learn. That might come from an apprenticeship, a workshop or manufacturing job, fixing cars or bikes, or serious projects of your own.
What matters most:
Useful but not required:
This is a full-time, on-site role, so you'll need to already live within commuting distance of Lancaster. We aren't able to support relocation. You'll also need the right to work in the UK.
