Job summary

Automated Architecture (AUAR) in London seeks a hands-on Health & Safety Competent Person to run the workshop and maintain site safety and regulatory compliance. The role covers RAMS, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and audit readiness on the London site.

You will lead risk assessments, training and audit processes while coordinating with engineers to keep builds safe and moving on the floor. Based full-time at AUAR's London facility.

Qualifications

• Workshop management experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S credential.
• Deep knowledge of HASAWA 1974, MHSWR 1999, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and HSE guidance.
• Ability to set up processes from scratch in a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to enforce safety rules with all levels of staff, including founders.

Responsibilities

• Competent Person for the London site under HSE regulations and audit readiness.
• Write and maintain RAMS for changing R&D setups and MicroFactory builds.
• Own inspection schedules for PUWER, LOLER, LEV and PAT; manage COSHH controls.
• Identify training needs and run practical inductions for engineers and contractors.
• Sign off high-risk activities and promote proactive near-miss reporting.
• Organize layout and workflows across disciplines to avoid bottlenecks.
• Manage goods in/out, stock and budget for the London facility.
• Support deployments to ensure safe practice travels with hardware.
