Job summary

Ocado Group in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a Technical Engineering Manager 2 to lead the Robotic Hardware team. You will provide hands-on technical direction across mechanical, mechatronics, and robotics disciplines, delivering hardware for automated warehouses from concept to production.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product, Project and Software teams, and drive rapid prototyping and continuous improvement in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical engineering or mechatronics experience with robotics and automation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary hardware engineering teams.
• Systems-level understanding of robotics for production-ready solutions.
• Delivery of hardware from development to production with manufacturability in mind.
• Collaborates with software teams to deliver integrated robotics solutions.
• Hands-on prototyping in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary hardware team to realise hardware for robotic picking solutions.
• Drive delivery of advanced robotic hardware for automated warehouses.
• Collaborate with centre leadership on recruitment, branding and induction processes.
• Partner with product/project teams to design and deliver new robotic hardware.
• Work with software teams to solve mechanical and mechatronic challenges.
• Oversee continuous improvement of production and development systems.
