Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Robotic Welder / Skilled Welder to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Redditch. The role focuses on setting up and operating a robotic welding arm to perform welding on forging dies and tooling.

Main duties include configuring the robotic arm, applying multiple layers of welds, removing slag, and preparing surfaces between weld layers to fully restore block impressions. Relevant MIG/TIG/ARC experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in welding within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• MIG and/or TIG welding experience – highly desirable.
• ARC welding experience is advantageous.
• Experience operating robotic welding equipment is beneficial but not essential.
• Understand welding processes and preparation thoroughly.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a robotic welding arm.
• Apply multiple layers of weld to forging dies.
• Remove slag and debris from welded surfaces.
• Prepare and clean surfaces between weld layers and complete the welding to restore impressions.
• Repair tooling and inspect finished work for quality standards.
• Perform MIG, TIG and ARC welding where required.
• Maintain safe and accurate work practices in a manufacturing environment.

Robotic Welder / Skilled Welder

Location: Redditch

Pay: £17.50 per hour during probation, increasing to £18.00 per hour + £50.06 weekly shift allowance

Probation: 3 months

Shifts: Weekly rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm / 2:00pm–12:00am

We are seeking a skilled Robotic Welder / Skilled Welder to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Redditch.

This is not a conventional welding role. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for setting up and operating a robotic welding arm, performing welding tasks on a variety of forging dies and tooling.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up and operating a robotic welding arm
• Applying multiple layers of weld to various forging dies
• Removing slag and debris from welded surfaces
• Preparing and cleaning surfaces between weld layersCompleting the welding process until the impression within the block is fully restored
• Repairing different types of tooling
• Performing MIG, TIG and ARC welding where required
• Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality standards
• Maintaining safe and accurate work practises within a manufacturing environment

Person Specification

We welcome applications from candidates who:

• Have previous welding experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Possess MIG and/or TIG welding experience – highly desirable
• Have ARC welding experience (advantageous)
• Have experience operating robotic welding equipment (beneficial but not essential)
• Understand welding processes and preparation thoroughly
• Can work accurately and follow instructions diligently
• Are eager to learn robotic welding techniques

Candidates with more basic welding experience will also be considered if they demonstrate the right aptitude and willingness to develop.

Pay & Hours

• Starting rate: £17.50 per hour during the 3-month probation period
• Post-probation: £18.00 per hour
• Additional allowance: £50.06 weekly shift allowance

The role operates on weekly alternating shifts:

• Week 1: 6:00am–2:00pm
• Week 2: 2:00pm–12:00am

Applicants must be able to work both shifts on a rotating basis.
