Gloucestershire County Council seeks a Roadspace Co-ordinator to manage and coordinate street works across the county’s highways, ensuring safe, efficient traffic management and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a highly motivated Roadspace Co-ordinator to join our Street Works Team. This is a varied and influential role that sits at the heart of network management and plays a key part in ensuring the safe and effective coordination of works on Gloucestershire's highways. Reporting to the Permit Scheme Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating planned street works, road works, highway maintenance schemes and major projects across the county. You will assess permit applications and traffic management proposals, identify potential conflicts on the network, and work proactively with promoters to coordinate activities and minimise disruption. The role requires the application of professional judgement when assessing the potential impact of works, including road closures, traffic-sensitive routes, major schemes, and activities affecting key transport corridors. You will work closely with utility companies, contractors, developers, neighbouring authorities, emergency services, public transport operators, and internal council teams to ensure works are effectively planned and coordinated.
We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential.
At Gloucestershire County Council, we are dedicated to managing the dynamic world of street and road works. It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for many of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.
As you'd expect, we offer an attractive package of benefits which makes a career in Local Government both flexible and rewarding.
