Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking an entry‑level Network Co-ordination role within the Streetworks team. The post focuses on coordinating, approving and inspecting all highway works to ensure compliance with national and local standards.

You will support planning of diversion routes, monitor street works by utility companies and other contractors, and participate in enforcing conditions, issuing penalties and auditing activities to uphold public safety and traffic flow.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level role within the Streetworks industry; no mandatory prior experience.
  • Desirable knowledge of NRSWA/TMA or statutory auditing is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, approve and inspect highway works to ensure compliance with national and local standards.
  • Plan and review proposed diversion routes and monitor street works by public utilities, OCC, developers and contractors.
  • Enforce conditions, raise penalties when needed and support governance of the network.

Job description

The coordination, approval and inspection of all works on the Highway. Coordination and management of works on the Highway, agreeing traffic management and user mitigations, enforcing conditions, issuing fines and removing works promoters from the network if they do not confirm to the national and local standards. To plan, co-ordinate, review and approve or modify proposed diversion routes, monitor and inspect the street work activity of public utility companies, the County Council, developers and other contractors. This role will specifically support the above by undertaking tasks relating to the management of the network, ensuring that works take place in accordance with national legislation and local priorities, appropriate penalties are applied to sites that fail inspection, raising Fixed Penalty Notices and Overstay Charges as required, respond to challenges on the network and resolve local issues with communities and Works Promoters. Experienced with a track record of statutory auditing, a working knowledge of the current legislative requirements

This position is aimed at an individual who is keen to learn and progress within the Streetworks industry. This role forms part of a career progression within the Network Co Ordination Team for the right candidate who is well motivated and driven. Previous experience with NRSWA/TMA, SROH and or any previous statutory auditing knowledge would be desirable although not mandatory for this position as this is a entry level role.

Working within the Network Management Team, whose function it is to ensure that all Street working activity is appropriately managed within the boundaries of legislation and the County Council's Permit Scheme and Lane Rental Scheme.

Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall. If this is applicable to you, you will be notified, but no reimbursement will apply in respect of travel.
