Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Vehicle Technician to join the Bournemouth cluster. You’ll perform diagnostics, roadside repairs and emergency breakdown support, starting and ending your day at home with a RAC van and diagnostic kit provided.

You’ll be part of a proactive team, with a competitive base salary (£42,921.87) and realistic OTE (£43k–£53k), plus a share scheme, breakdown cover, pension and generous holidays. Training and progression are highlighted throughout the pathway.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• Or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Provide emergency breakdown support across the local area.
• Assist members to get back on the road quickly with confident, on-site solutions.

Where you'll work

You’ll be part of the Bournemouth cluster, covering areas like Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Ringwood, Wareham, Swanage. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head‑on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
