Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a field-based Roadside Technician located in Bridgwater. A national breakdown company offers a strong base salary with lucrative OTE potential and overtime opportunities.

The role requires a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair and a valid UK driving license with up to 6 points. Expect 40 hours weekly, with shifts across 6am–12am and additional overtime at enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with vehicles (workshop or mobile).
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, incl. battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Roadside Technician (field-based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Bridgwater

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
