Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic in Ipswich with guaranteed year one earnings of £38,270 and an OTE up to £60,000 based on top performers. You will work on average 40 hours per week with flexible shift patterns to suit personal and professional needs.

You’ll patrol and respond to incidents, applying your technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience and get members back on the road safely as the friendly face of the UK’s largest motoring

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience.
• Full category B driving licence with 6 points or less.
• Confidence using new technology; willingness to learn the tools provided.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway, paid from in until you get home.
• Work independently across varied locations and conditions, while part of a supportive team.
• Use technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Resolve roadside issues on the spot with a calm, skilled approach.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
