Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic for Dumfries & Galloway. This full-time field role involves on-road rescue work, flexible shifts, and earning potential with guaranteed first-year earnings and OTE up to £60,000.

You’ll be the friendly face helping members get back on the road, using your technical skills across varied locations. Training and equipment are provided, with strong company benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications with experience.
• Full category B driving licence with 6 points or less.
• Confidence with new technology and tools we provide.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Start and finish on your driveway, paid from in-van time.
• Work independently across varied locations.
• Use technical knowledge to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Resolve roadside issues on the spot with a calm, proactive approach.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
