Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to deliver mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You’ll diagnose faults, provide fast expert solutions and reassure members on their journeys.

You’ll work independently, develop skills through a structured pathway, and have opportunities for IMI accreditation as you advance in your RAC career.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years in vehicle tech.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• Structured technical development pathway with ongoing learning and IMI accreditation.

Job description

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you’ll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it’s a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you’ll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most. You’ll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every day brings different challenges, new environments and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most. You’ll combine technical expertise with great customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely. You’ll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.
