Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.

With NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or 5+ years’ experience as a Technician and a full UK driving licence, you’ll diagnose faults, repair vehicles promptly, and help members continue their journeys safely. You’ll use the latest diagnostic technology and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical roadside repairs with speed and accuracy.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and fix faults remotely and on site.
• Provide clear explanations and reassurance to RAC members while ensuring safe journeys.
• Work independently across diverse environments to deliver high-quality service.

Job description

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

You'll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely.
