24 hour Breakdown HGV/LCV Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

Our client is a leading LCV/HGV dealership seeking to recruit a 24-hour Breakdown Technician / Mechanic. The dealership operates as a large Main Dealer for LCVs, providing breakdown assistance across the Tonbridge, Crawley, Robertsbridge, Dunton Green, and Maidstone areas.

You will be required to:

1. Collect your van at the start of your shift and drop it off when not on call.
2. Assist with breakdowns, carry out roadside servicing and maintenance repairs.
3. Identify and diagnose vehicle faults efficiently to ensure first-time fix.
4. Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and service administration.
5. Complete all necessary paperwork in line with company guidelines and manufacturer warranty procedures.

Requirements:

• Fully qualified Vehicle Technician with roadside/breakdown experience.
• Qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience in vehicle diagnostics.
• Appropriate driving license for the vehicle class.

Location:

Tonbridge, covering Crawley, Robertsbridge, Dunton Green, and Maidstone.

Package:

Up to £20 per hour depending on experience (including shift premium) plus use of the 24-hour service van.

Hours:

When not 'On-Call': 8 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

When 'On-Call': Must be available to work on a rota basis 24/7 (paid at overtime rate outside normal hours). The role also offers a retainer while on call.
