Job summary

BEAR Scotland is seeking a Roads Engineer to support the design and delivery of trunk road improvement schemes across the Northwest network. You will undertake investigations, develop design solutions, prepare reports, drawings, BoQs and support procurement, while ensuring compliance with DMRB and CDM Regulations.

This role suits early-career engineers working toward Chartership, offering a full-time permanent contract with hybrid working across office and remote locations in Scotland.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Highway Engineering or equivalent.
• Support towards Chartership; willing to work toward professional accreditation.
• Experience or interest in road design and traffic management is beneficial.

• Undertake engineering investigations and develop design solutions.
• Prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and BoQs.

The Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling.

BEAR Scotland is looking for a Roads Engineer to support the design and delivery of trunk road improvement schemes across the Northwest network.

This role offers the opportunity to work on projects ranging from £50k to £1M, contributing to the development and maintenance of critical infrastructure across some of Scotland’s most challenging and scenic regions.

Job Purpose:

You will play a key role in the investigation, design, and delivery of road improvement projects, working closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
