Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for a Design Manager to lead the technical delivery of projects within the Service Delivery Framework Roads team. This role involves managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects, coordinating design teams, and ensuring compliance with quality management requirements. Ideal candidates will possess a relevant university degree, strong communication skills, and experience in complex engineering projects. The position offers a hybrid working policy, continued development opportunities, and a supportive work environment that values inclusivity.

Qualifications

• A university degree relevant to civil engineering, construction, design or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Status (MICE, MCIHT or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience is preferable but not essential.
• Experience of large, technically complex multi‐disciplinary airfield civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts (i.e. NEC) is preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership for the successful delivery of multi‐disciplinary engineering projects.
• Managing and coordinating design teams and effectively communicating with all parties.
• Identifying and managing design risks.
• Ensuring all deliverables and milestones are achieved to cost/quality/time targets.
