Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding UK is seeking a Road Freight Specialist to plan and coordinate European road freight movements, working with hauliers and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient and cost‑effective transport.

You will handle daily operations, optimise routes, monitor performance, ensure legal compliance, manage transport systems and contribute to continuous improvement, with a strong focus on accuracy, English communication and carrier relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience of customs processes and documentation for UK and European road freight movements.
• Experience of transport billing and invoicing.
• Good administrative and organisational skills.
• Results driven with a high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• High level of IT skills and proficiency with Windows/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily road freight operations to meet customer requirements.
• Optimise routes, vehicle utilisation and transport schedules for efficiency.
• Liaise with hauliers and internal stakeholders on shipment status and requirements.
• Support RFQ activities with pricing, capacity and successful bids.
• Monitor transport performance against service and cost targets.
• Ensure compliance with drivers' hours and transport legislation.
• Manage transport management systems data accurately.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance.
• Resolve service issues proactively and professionally.
• Oversee transport-related administration and cost monitoring.
• Support volume growth and profitability objectives.
• Build strong relationships with carriers and service providers.
