Job summary

Mace is seeking a project risk professional to support risk management across a major National Highways infrastructure scheme. The role focuses on implementing risk frameworks, delivering risk workshops, and advising project teams on mitigations.

You will collaborate with PMO and the Planning Centre of Excellence to optimise risk delivery. Ideal candidates have experience on complex construction projects, strong communication, and the ability to present to clients.

This role will require 2 days per week working in Penrith. This is a project risk role (not enterprise) working on a 1bn National Highways infrastructure scheme and we are ideally looking for people with project risk experience within the construction / infrastructure sectors on large complex projects / programmes where you will manage the implementation and delivery of a range of risk services to designated project(s) within the PMO and Planning Centre of Excellence.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Supporting the risk management performance and effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s).
• Contributing to team performance, driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development and coaching.
• Building strong professional relationships with client/client representative(s).
• Providing advice and support to project team in the administration of the risk process, particularly with respect to the risks to achievement of key objectives and the escalation of risk(s).
• Facilitating and delivery of risk workshops.
• Working with project manager to recognise opportunities and mitigations to minimise risk exposure.
• Responsible for supporting the risk management performance on their assigned commission(s).
• Effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s).
• Ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, owners appointed and that project plans are updated and monitored.
• Supporting the delivery of project quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
• Delivering monthly risk reports, externally to client and internally to project team, contributing on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle.
• Ensuring all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace control centre, client requirements and prevailing legislation.
• Actively engaging in the integration of risk with PMO and planning disciplines.
• Supporting more junior risk managers and other Project staff as required.
• Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll Need To Have

• Experience of working on complex construction projects.
• Experience of delivering effective risk management/ assurance frameworks/strategies.
• Working knowledge of risk tools, techniques and software (e.g., Active Risk Manager, risk Hive, Primavera Risk Analyser, Primavera P6).
• Effective communication and engagement skills.
• Effective networking skills.
• Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to client(s).
• General awareness and some practical knowledge and application of risk/data analytics, Power BI and other reporting suite tools.
• Basic knowledge of risk tools, software (e.g., risk Hive, Primavera Risk Analyser, @risk, Active Risk Manager).
• Understanding of construction project lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of risk service delivery in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence others.
• Proven ability to articulate complex information and ideas for a non-technical audience.
• Attention to detail.
