Job summary

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine ambition. We are seeking a Risk Manager to lead risk management delivery across complex construction projects, focusing on governance, assurance frameworks and client engagement.

You will implement risk strategies, run workshops, coach teams, and collaborate with PMO and planning to minimise risk exposure while supporting net zero carbon initiatives within our programs.

Qualifications

• Experience on complex construction projects.
• Experience delivering risk management/assurance frameworks.
• Knowledge of risk tools and software (ARA, Risk Hive, Primavera).
• Effective communication and engagement skills.
• Strong networking and stakeholder management.
• Ability to create and deliver persuasive client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Support risk management performance and implement risk frameworks/strategies.
• Drive team performance through coaching and development.
• Build relationships with clients and their representatives.
• Advise project teams on risk processes and escalation.
• Facilitate and deliver risk workshops.
• Identify opportunities and mitigations to minimize risk exposure.
• Support risk management across assigned commissions.
• Ensure risk actions and project plans are updated and monitored.
• Contribute to quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
• Deliver monthly risk reports to clients and internal teams.
• Ensure activities comply with Mace controls, client requirements and law.
• Engage with PMO and Planning to integrate risk with delivery.
• Mentor junior risk personnel as required.
• Support net zero carbon transition through risk management.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Supporting the risk management performance and effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s).
• Contributing to team performance, driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development and coaching.
• Building strong professional relationships with client/client representative(s).
• Providing advice and support to Project team in the administration of the risk process, particularly with respect to the risks to achievement of key objectives and the escalation of risk(s).
• Facilitations and delivery of risk workshops.
• Working with Project Manager to recognise opportunities and mitigations to minimise risk exposure.
• Supporting the risk management performance on their assigned commission(s).
• Effective implementation of risk framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s).
• Ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, owners appointed and that project plans are updated and monitored.
• Supporting the delivery of Project quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
• Delivering monthly risk reports, externally to client and internally to Project team, contributing on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle.
• Ensuring all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace Control Centre, client requirements and prevailing legislation.
• Actively engaging in the integration of risk with PMO and Planning disciplines.
• Supporting more junior risk managers and other Project staff as required.
• Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You’ll Need To Have

• Experience of working on complex construction projects.
• Experience of delivering effective risk management/ assurance frameworks/strategies.
• Working knowledge of risk tools, techniques and software (e.g., Active Risk Manager, Risk Hive, Primavera Risk Analyzer, Primavera P6).
• Effective communication and engagement skills.
• Effective networking skills.
• Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to client(s).
