The Risk Data team, within Model Risk & Analytics (MR&A), is responsible for ensuring our Purpose, Strategic Aims, Values & Behaviours are central to our actions, maintaining responsibility and safety for our customers' and investors' money.

This is an exciting time to join us as we contribute to key projects such as BCBS 239, focusing on the delivery and accuracy of Non-Retail Risk data. Your role will involve monitoring, validating risk data, supporting activities like portfolio analysis, model development, and reporting. We seek someone eager to enhance our capabilities further.

What you’ll be doing

1. Sourcing and developing new data feeds and datasets across all products.
2. Extracting, manipulating, and validating data to support business units and regulatory obligations.
3. Rebuilding, streamlining, and automating existing data processes.
4. Investigating and resolving Data Quality Issues within various data sources and repositories.
5. Designing and maintaining controls to ensure data quality and fitness for purpose.
6. Supporting senior team members with complex projects.

We need you to have

1. Experience in banking, risk management, and data management.
2. Familiarity with data mining tools (e.g., SAS, SQL) and MI creation/analysis.
3. Understanding of data manipulation and ETL processes.
4. High-level qualification in a numerical or coding discipline or equivalent experience.
5. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
6. Logical problem-solving approach for technical and business issues.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

1. Knowledge of Virgin Money’s risk systems and data landscape.
2. Knowledge of data management industry-wide approaches.
3. Understanding of Retail Banking, products, and Credit Reference Agency reporting.
