Job summary

QED Legal LLP is working with a leading regional law firm to recruit a Risk & Compliance Manager. The role is broad, hands-on and sits in the central management team, with exposure to partners and senior stakeholders.

The position covers professional risk, compliance, claims, complaints, insurance and regulatory matters. It requires a strong background in legal compliance and a proactive, analytical approach.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in legal compliance.
• Strong knowledge of SRA regulations and professional conduct.
• Experience managing claims and regulatory matters.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work with partners and senior management.
• Analytical, investigative and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop risk & compliance policies and procedures.
• Advise fee earners on SRA regulations and conflicts.
• Handle claims and complaints, liaising with insurers and regulators.
• Support PI insurance processes.
• Conduct compliance audits and identify improvements.
• Deliver training on risk and compliance.
• Coordinate Lexcel accreditation.
• Maintain risk registers and root cause analysis.
• Support business continuity planning.
• Advise on regulatory changes and M&A risk.
• Review third-party terms.
• Collaborate with IT, HR, Finance and other functions.
• Supervise a Risk & Compliance Assistant.

Risk & Compliance Manager

London or Sussex

Hybrid 2/3 days a week in office

We're working with a leading regional law firm looking for a Risk & Compliance Manager to join its central management team.

This is a broad, hands-on role covering professional risk, compliance, claims, complaints, insurance and regulatory matters, with significant exposure to partners and senior stakeholders.

The role?

• Managing and developing risk & compliance policies and procedures
• Advising fee earners on SRA regulations, professional conduct, ethics and conflicts
• Managing claims and complaints, including liaison with insurers, the SRA and Legal Ombudsman
• Supporting the firm's PI insurance process
• Carrying out compliance audits and identifying areas for improvement
• Delivering training across the firm on risk and compliance matters
• Coordinating the firm's Lexcel accreditation
• Maintaining risk registers and root cause analysis
• Supporting business continuity planning
• Advising on regulatory requirements and changes in legislation
• Supporting risk and compliance matters relating to M&A and mergers
• Reviewing third-party terms of business
• Working alongside IT, HR, Finance and other support functions on wider risk matters
• Supervising a Risk & Compliance Assistant

About you?
