Job summary

Career Legal in London is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead the Legal Risk & Compliance function. The role focuses on conflicts, data protection, and guiding a team of Risk Analysts, with regular in-person work in the London office.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Legal Risk & Compliance, solid knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct, and experience managing staff. The position is permanent with hybrid working arrangements in the London office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Legal Risk & Compliance and Conflicts.
• Excellent knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct.
• Experience line managing Analysts/Officers/Assistants.
• Able to commute to the London office regularly (around 3 days per week).
• Experience in Data Protection.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the escalation point for the Risk Analysts.
• Address complex compliance inquiries from Fee-Earners and staff.
• Deliver training to the Risk Team.
• Manage the Risk Team inbox and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Review and advise on client terms.
• Resolve escalated conflict matters with the Conflicts Manager.
• Participate in recruitment for the team.
• Lead on Data Protection matters (DSARS, data breaches).
• Lead Risk Projects.

Our client, a top international law firm, is actively seeking an experienced and professional Legal Risk & Compliance specialist to join them on a permanent basis in London – working as their new Risk Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 5 years’ experience within Legal Conflicts and Compliance to work closely with their Senior Risk Manager, Conflicts Manager and Head of Risk, overseeing the day-to-day line management of Risk Analysts.

As the successful Risk Manager, you’ll be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

• Serving as the escalation point for the Risk Analysts
• Addressing complex compliance inquiries, raised by Fee-Earners and support staff
• Delivering training to the wider Risk Team
• Managing the Risk Team inbox, ensuring tasks are addressed efficiently and effectively
• Reviewing and advising on client terms
• Resolving escalated conflict matters, alongside the Conflicts Manager
• Participating in recruitment processes for team needs
• Managing complex data protection matters (DSARS, data breaches)
• Leading on Risk Projects
