Job Description:

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implement ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture at Smiths News, including road transport and operational yard safety at company and third-party locations.
• Manage company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring proper arrangements are in place.
• Lead the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to promote positive safety behaviors and culture.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
• Investigate all incidents and accidents thoroughly, escalate as needed, and liaise with external agencies like emergency services and media.

About you:

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk management qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
