Job summary

Wates is offering a Site Management (Production) Trainee programme in Bedford, providing hands-on experience on construction projects while working with senior site managers and project teams.

You will develop knowledge of site operations, health and safety, planning, quality management and stakeholder coordination, building leadership alongside practical site experience and formal qualifications. The programme includes mentoring, training and industry-recognised progression.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above by Sep 2027.
• Two A-Levels at Grade D or above by Sep 2027.
• For some locations, a full UK driving licence may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management and coordination of construction activities on site.
• Promote and uphold health, safety, wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
• Work closely with subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
• Develop strong working relationships with clients, designers, consultants and colleagues across the project team.
• Assist with planning and monitoring project programmes to ensure works are delivered on schedule and within budget.
• Support quality inspections and site checks to ensure works meet required specifications and standards.
• Gain understanding of construction methods and sequencing across project stages.
• Work with commercial teams and surveyors to understand project cost management.
• Contribute to site meetings, progress reporting and project coordination.
• Develop knowledge of digital construction tools and technologies used to improve project delivery.
• Build leadership and problem-solving skills to manage teams on site.
