Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a qualified Chartered Legal Executive, Solicitor or Barrister to handle public rights of way, access land, highways, commons and village greens matters, in a rewarding, varied caseload.

You will support senior team members, provide legal research, supervise junior staff, and ensure compliance with LEXCEL quality standards, with flexible patterns and potential part-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of the law relating to countryside, public rights of way, access land, highways, commons and village greens.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Local authority knowledge preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking routine to moderately complex countryside, public rights of way, access land, highways, commons and village greens matters including enforcement, hearings and inquiries.
• Providing support for senior team members in relation to large or complex matters.
• Providing general legal advice on public rights of way, access land, highways, commons and village greens related matters including legal research.
• Supervising and delegate to other more junior members of the team
• Adhering to the Legal Services Unit’s LEXCEL quality standards.
• Such other duties as may reasonably be required including providing assistance with the drafting of Committee reports.
