Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay is seeking a Pathway Navigator to support Rheumatology patients. You will be the central point of contact, helping patients access surveillance and schedule scans, while coordinating with the Rheumatology team.

The role requires strong IT/data entry skills and experience with patient databases; the post is based on-site at Royal Lancaster Infirmary with an emphasis on accurate record-keeping and communication.

Qualifications

  • NVQ3 in Business Administration or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • ECDL or recognised typing qualification or relevant experience.
  • GCSE Maths and English or Equivalent.
  • proficient in use of Microsoft office specifically EXCEL.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support for patients to maintain engagement in the surveillance pathways ensuring that they receive their surveillance scans on schedule.
  • Work closely with the Rheumatology CNS and wider Rheumatology team to support care.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, signposting to resources and liaising with staff to schedule tests and appointments.
  • Maintain and populate tracking lists for nurse-led and consultant clinics and track patients through the RTT pathway; strong IT and data entry skills.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a crucial admin role as a Pathway Navigator for patients under the care of Rheumatology and will be the central point of contact for the patients; helping to ensure the individual needs of the patient are supported and that care is built around those needs.

Main duties of the job

You will provide direct support for patients to maintain their engagement in the surveillance pathways ensuring that they receive their surveillance scans on schedule. Working closely with the Rheumatology CNS and wider Rheumatology team.

As the central point of contact you will be involved with maintaining both effective communication with and on behalf of the patient, signposting to other resources and information as defined by patient need and liaising with staff and services to ensure tests and appointments are scheduled.

A key element of the role will be to maintain and populate tracking lists for both nurse-led and consultant clinics and to track patients through their RTT pathway, as such, you must have excellent IT and data entry skills.

As this is a central contact point you will be predominantly based on site at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.

  • Experience of undertaking a range of secretarial duties to include: - Diary management - Typing correspondence - Answering telephone queries - Audio typing
  • Knowledge and use of medical terminology
  • Experience of using MS Office systems
  • Experience of overseeing a small team of staff
  • Previous experience as a Secretary in a medical setting including waiting list management
  • Experience of using a Patient Database
  • Experience of using digital dictation machines and software
  • Experience of working with spreadsheets and databases
