Job Title: Registered Nurse - Rheumatology (Part-Time, Band 6)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse, preferably with rheumatology experience or transferable clinical skills, to join our friendly specialist nursing team.

Location: Torbay Hospital
Service: Rheumatology, co-located with consultants, administrators, and the wider MDT

The nursing service offers comprehensive care, from assessment to treatment of all types of rheumatic diseases, ensuring an inclusive and patient-centered approach. We pride ourselves on a strong patient-focused work ethic, delivering individualized assessment, treatment, and education to support patients and their families.

This is a part-time role (25.5 hours per week) at Band 6 pro-rata. While rheumatology or specialist nursing experience is desirable, full induction and specialist training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Under the leadership of the Lead Rheumatology Specialist Nurse, work autonomously with patients via face-to-face clinics following induction and training.
2. Assess, advise, and counsel patients requiring treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (including biological therapies).
3. Recognize and act upon management plans for abnormal blood results related to monitoring patients on these medications using Trust IT systems.
4. Respond to patient queries via the Rheumatology telephone helpline.
5. Participate in educational presentations for patients and staff.
6. Manage all aspects of rheumatology conditions.
7. Continue developing specialist knowledge through CPD.
8. Provide specialist nursing advice to colleagues and the wider MDT.
