Join to apply for the Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist role at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse, with rheumatology experience or transferable clinical skills, to join our friendly specialist nursing team.

The Rheumatology service is based at Torbay Hospital, co-located with consultants, administrators, and the wider MDT. The nursing service offers comprehensive care, from assessment to treatment of all rheumatic diseases, ensuring an inclusive and patient-centered approach.

This part-time role (25.5 hours per week) is at Band 6 pro rata. While rheumatology or specialist nursing experience is desirable, full induction and specialist training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

1. Working autonomously with patients via face-to-face clinics following induction and training.
2. Assessing, advising, and counseling patients requiring treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, including biological therapies.
3. Recognizing and acting on abnormal blood results related to monitoring patients on these medications using Trust IT systems.
4. Responding to patient queries via the Rheumatology telephone helpline.
5. Participating in educational presentations for patients and staff.
6. Managing all aspects of rheumatology conditions.
7. Continuing professional development through CPD.
8. Providing specialist nursing advice to colleagues and the wider MDT.
