A leading healthcare provider seeks a motivated nurse to join their Lung Cancer Nursing Team. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to support patients with lung cancer, requiring excellent communication skills and at least two years of post-registration experience. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join Lung Cancer Nursing Team.
The role involves working with the multidisciplinary team and will provide support and information to patients with a suspected or diagnosed Lung Cancer.
It is an exciting time to join the Lung cancer team. A number of new treatments are now available for our patients; these are improving their survival outcomes. Further treatments are under development.
We invite applicants with at least 2 years post registration experience. You will support patients, their families, or carers during a difficult time in their lives. You should have proven excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise and manage a patient caseload and enjoy the challenge of such an exciting opportunity. The post is part time (30hrs a week .8 wte) and the applicant will be required to be flexible in the days work, in order to meet service needs.
The role is to work with the B7 CNS and the wider multi-disciplinary team to coordinate and develop all aspects of the lung care pathway for patients with suspected or confirmed lung cancer diagnosis in line with the national guidance, recommendations, policy and Peer Review.
The nurse acting as a key worker will be vital in communicating the outcomes of discussions to the patient and carers. As such nurses plan and run nurse led clinics to support facilitating this.
The range of support the nurse gives to cancer patients is large, and include information and explanation, appointments, assessments, arranging medication adjustments, symptom advise to emotional support, and breaking bad news.
By working in collaboration with other clinical teams and with community and primary services across the cancer pathway we will improve services and patient access and therefore improve the experience and outcomes for people with cancer. This collaboration will include Oncology, Radiology, Cardiology, Respiratory, end of life care and social/economic issues as it is recognised that many patients on a cancer pathway have multiple comorbidities which require more than one expert opinion.
