Job Description:
An RF & Wi-Fi Planning & Optimisation Engineer is required by a leading technology consultancy to assist in delivering an RF and Wi-Fi project at a leading financial services organization.
The role requires experience in:
- Network Design & Planning: Develop RF & Wi-Fi network plans for optimal coverage, capacity, and quality across various wireless technologies in a global enterprise/campus environment.
- Utilize RF planning tools like Atoll, Planet, and NetAct for site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
- Use Wi-Fi planning tools such as Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps.
- Coverage & Capacity Analysis: Conduct RF propagation modeling and prediction, analyze RF data for network optimization.
- Site Surveys & Audits: Perform site surveys and TSSR audits to assess and improve network performance and ensure compliance.
- Optimization & Troubleshooting: Monitor and enhance network performance, resolve issues like coverage gaps and interference.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure plans meet local and international standards, prepare documentation for authorities.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create technical documentation and reports on RF strategies, designs, and optimizations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related; Master's preferred.
- 5–10 years in RF planning and optimization, experience with mobile operators, vendors, or consulting firms advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of wireless network design and tools.
- Proficiency in RF planning software (Atoll, Planet, iBwave).
- Proficiency in Wi-Fi planning tools (Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, Acrylic WiFi).
- Familiarity with 2G/3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi technologies and protocols.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, team-oriented, able to present technical findings.
- Certifications like CRFE, RF Engineering Certification, or WCET are advantageous.
This is a 6-month outside IR35 contract with scope to renew for approximately 24 months. Only applicants within the UK or able to work in the UK will be considered.
