A leading technology consultancy seeks an RF & Wi-Fi Planning & Optimisation Engineer to work on a significant 6-month project with the possibility of a 24-month extension. Job description

RF & Wi-Fi Planning & Optimisation Engineer is required by a leading technology consultancy to assist in the delivery of an RF and Wi-Fi project at a leading financial services organisation.

The role requires experience of:

  1. Network Design & Planning: Develop comprehensive RF & Wi-Fi network plans to achieve optimal coverage, capacity, and quality across a global enterprise/campus environment using various wireless technologies.
  2. Utilise RF planning tools like Atoll, Planet, and NetAct for site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
  3. Utilise Wi-Fi planning tools such as Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps.
  4. Coverage & Capacity Analysis: Perform RF propagation modeling and prediction for system planning. Analyze RF data to create actionable insights for network optimization.
  5. Site Surveys & Audits: Conduct site surveys and TSSR audits to assess and improve network performance, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  6. Optimization & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, identify issues like low coverage or high interference, and implement solutions to improve user experience and efficiency.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure plans comply with local and international regulations; prepare and submit documentation to authorities.
  8. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical documentation and reports on RF planning, design, and optimization strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related; a Master's in RF Engineering is preferred.
  2. Experience: 5–10 years in RF planning and optimization; experience with mobile operators, vendors, or consulting firms is advantageous.
  3. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of wireless design principles and tools.
  4. Proficiency in RF planning software like Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
  5. Proficiency in Wi-Fi planning tools such as Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps.
  6. Familiarity with 2G/3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi technologies and protocols.
  7. Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and RF data analysis capabilities.
  8. Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present technical findings effectively.
  9. Certifications: Industry certifications like CRFE, RF Engineering Certification, or WCET are advantageous.

This is a 6-month outside IR35 contract with scope to renew for approximately 24 months. Only applicants within the UK or able to work in the UK will be considered.
