Job Description:
An RF & Wi-Fi Planning & Optimization Engineer is required by a leading technology consultancy to assist in delivering an RF and Wi-Fi project at a major financial services organization.
The role requires experience in:
- Network Design & Planning: Develop comprehensive RF & Wi-Fi network plans to achieve optimal coverage, capacity, and quality across various wireless technologies within a global enterprise or campus environment.
- Utilize RF planning tools like Atoll, Planet, and NetAct for site selection, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
- Use Wi-Fi planning tools such as Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps.
- Coverage & Capacity Analysis: Perform detailed RF propagation modeling and prediction for system planning; analyze RF data to create actionable insights for network optimization.
- Site Surveys & Audits: Conduct site surveys to assess and improve network performance; perform TSSR surveys and audits to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Optimization & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, identify issues like coverage gaps or interference, and implement solutions to improve user experience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure network plans adhere to local and international regulations; prepare documentation for regulatory authorities.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical documentation and reports on RF planning strategies, designs, and optimizations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field; a Master's degree in RF Engineering or similar is preferred.
- Experience: 5–10 years in RF planning and optimization; experience with mobile network operators, equipment vendors, or consulting firms is advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of wireless network design principles and tools.
- Proficiency in RF planning software such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
- Proficiency in Wi-Fi planning tools like Ekahau AI Pro, NetSpot, AirMagnet Planner, and Acrylic WiFi Heatmaps.
- Knowledge of 2G/3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi technologies and protocols.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities to analyze RF data for network optimization.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in teams and present findings.
- Certifications: Industry certifications like CRFE, RF Engineering Certification, or WCET are beneficial.
This is a 6-month outside IR35 contract with scope to renew for approximately 24 months. Only applicants based in the UK or able to work in the UK will be considered.
