Job summary

Rowden in Bristol is expanding its RF test and evaluation capability to ensure RF and mixed-signal hardware platforms meet performance requirements across products and research projects.

As an RF Test Engineer you will develop and run test strategies, work in the lab with real hardware, build automated test setups, and collaborate with RF, hardware, software, and QA engineers to validate system performance and support product releases.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with RF systems in test/validation roles.
• Practical use of RF lab equipment (spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
• Experience coding for test automation (Python or similar).
• Strong understanding of RF performance metrics (noise figure, gain, dynamic range, bandwidth).
• Ability to define what to test when requirements aren’t fully defined.

Responsibilities

• Develop RF test approaches to validate system performance (sensitivity, dynamic range, noise figure, bandwidth).
• Set up and run RF tests using lab equipment (spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
• Write Python scripts to automate tests and control lab equipment.
• Support hardware bring-up and early-stage testing of RF platforms, feeding findings back to the design team.
• Analyze results with engineers to diagnose and resolve performance issues across analog, mixed-signal, and digital domains.
