Reward, Benefits and Cost Control Director

Leading all aspects of Reward, Benefits and Cost Controlling for L'Oréal in the UK & Ireland, you will partner with the senior leadership team, finance, and external suppliers to drive the Rewards agenda for the L'Oréal UKI community of approximately 3000 employees across our four product divisions, corporate functions, and retail population.

You will be responsible for the overall Rewards (compensation and benefits) offering for our UKI employees. You will own the rewards strategy and oversee a team managing role grading, annual cycles such as salary review, living wage reporting, audits, and external benchmarking. Your team will drive innovative benefits solutions and design sustainable frameworks for new roles, capabilities, and acquired businesses in the region. Additionally, you will oversee the cost controlling process, ensuring smooth operations and cost management across the team.

A Day in the Life:
  1. Provide strategic advice and support to leaders on reward & benefits topics.
  2. Manage reward frameworks in line with best practices, legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  3. Lead market benchmarking to ensure competitive reward and benefits offerings and respond proactively to market trends.
  4. Oversee reward program administration, including pay review cycles, benefits enrollment, and incentive programs, providing insights into best practices.
  5. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, including pay gap reporting and statutory submissions.
  6. Collaborate with HR specialists to align offerings with employee value propositions and career development.
  7. Support executive meetings with necessary management information and insights.
  8. Own the annual salary review process, working closely with leadership, finance, and HR to meet budgets.
  9. Lead forecasting and control of 'people' costs, including pay, pensions, and social charges.
  10. Assist HR and Finance in cost control and reporting related to HR budgets.
  11. Manage the cost control team in headcount and payroll cost management, rationalizing variances.
  12. Manage the annual benefits cycle, working with providers to enhance engagement and develop voluntary benefits.
  13. Oversee group insurances, negotiating with brokers for the best deals.
  14. Ensure accurate administration and budget management, designing effective employee communications.
  15. Implement internal controls and support group audits.
  16. Manage and coach a team of 7 across Reward and Cost Control functions.
Who You Are:
  • Extensive reward and benefits experience within an in-house role.
  • Proven ability to compile and present data, including reward modeling and benefits brokerage.
  • Leadership experience managing, empowering, and motivating teams.
  • Financial discipline and budget management skills; direct cost control experience is a plus.
  • Customer-focused with an employee experience mindset, always seeking improvements.
  • Proactive, resilient, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong data analysis and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and demonstrate credibility and respect.
  • Understanding of resource planning and current industry best practices in Reward.
