Job description

Norwich City Council is seeking 4 motivated and detail-oriented Revenues and Benefits Officers to join our dedicated Revenues and Benefits team. This is a key position within the council, responsible for delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that support the financial wellbeing of our residents and the effective administration of local revenues.

As a Revenues and Benefits Officer, you will play a vital role in the assessment and administration of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Council Tax billing and collection. You will be responsible for determining eligibility for financial support, processing claims accurately and efficiently, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies.

The role requires a high level of accuracy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with a diverse range of customers. You will be expected to manage a varied caseload, respond to enquiries via multiple channels, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the council and external partners.

In addition to day-to-day casework, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our services by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance customer experience, and support the council’s wider objectives. You may also be required to represent the council at tribunals or court proceedings, where appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is committed to public service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to develop their knowledge and skills in a supportive and professional setting. While previous experience in a similar role is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a strong willingness to learn.
